In shisha embroidery, a mirror is held in place by the stitches around it. Here, every mirror carries a Balochi song. The surrounding stitches are songs from elsewhere that sound close to it. Press the cloth and pull the thread to begin.
I gathered 213 Balochi songs from family playlists, friends and Spotify, then placed them beside 2,269 songs from 14 genres. Energy, acousticness, mood and tempo give each track a place in a shared sound space. For every Balochi song, the six nearest tracks become the stitches around its mirror. The closer the sound, the more tightly the stitch sits.
